Lest We Forget: Canadian Designers on War
25 award winning designers from across Canada were invited to participate in a show commemorating the 60th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima. The direction we were given was simple. Create a poster that makes some sort of commentary about war.
As a Japanese Canadian, the subject of Hiroshima hits close to home for me. Hundreds of thousands of civilian lives were lost as a result of not only the bomb dropped on Hiroshima but the one dropped on Nagasaki as well. I tried to depict the horror and the tragedy of the occassion in a simple yet powerful way.
This poster won the Anvil Award for Best Poster - Single as well as being featured in the Applied Arts Design Annual in 2006
